Instructor of the Year - 2009
Michael Melendez
Mr. Melendez has truly had an incredible year in 2009. In July he fought for the first time in the Lei Tai full contact fighting at the Nationals in Baltimore, MD. He took first place in the tournament, which earned a spot on the United States National Team. In September Mr. Melendez went on to fight in the World Tournament in Ulm, Germany and took first place becoming a World Champion. Beyond this tremendous accomplishment his students and martial arts brothers and sisters know him to be humble, encouraging and someone who looks beyond himself to find ways to help others. This sort of kind nature combined with powerful and effective martial arts ability is the balance one finds in a true Bok Fu Do practitioner. Mr. Melendez has represented that value to the fullest.
